AFC Bournemouth have confirmed their seventh signing of the summer, United States of America international Tyler Adams for a reported £23 million from Championship side Leeds United.

The move takes the Cherries reported summer spending to in excess of £110 million following deals for Hamed Traorè from Serie A side Sassuolo, Justin Kluivert from Roma, Romain Faivre from Olympique Lyonnais, Milos Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar, Alex Scott from Bristol City and Max Aarons from Norwich City.

The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract after leaving Elland Road having made 26 appearances in all competitions in a campaign that ended with Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League.

Adams previously made 104 appearances during his spell in Germany with RB Leipzig, covering the Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Last season he also made 4 appearances at the World Cup in Qatar, playing every minute of their campaign against Wales, England, Iran and the Netherlands.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk

“We’re thrilled to have brought Tyler to the club and he is a player we’ve admired for a long time.

“It’s been widely documented how much his talents have been recognised in this transfer window by other clubs, so to have him sign for AFC Bournemouth shows the ambition we have as a club.

“Tyler is an exciting player who possesses plenty of experience for someone that is just 24 years of age and we’re looking forward to working with him as he’s a player we know will be a great addition to our squad.”

The midfield is complete. Now we simply need less than half of them to be on the treatment table.

Exciting signing in my opinion, mainly for his ability/potential of course. Plus a potential residual benefit for the club of not only being American but also the national team captain.

Perhaps we’ll see more US-based fans following the club/joining the forum? – To join the conversation, click here.
