AFC Bournemouth have announced the permanent signing of Hamed Traorè from Serie A side Sassuolo.

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international had a medical and finalised personal terms back in January, with a reported fee in the region of £21million doing the rounds.

However, once the deal was officially announced, the move was a loan agreement until the end of the season, with the potential to be made permanent if certain conditions were met.

Just days after the Cherries Premier League status was mathematically confirmed for the 2023/24 campaign, AFC Bournemouth have now announced that the deal has indeed become permanent.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk

“We’ve been really impressed by Hamed since his arrival in January, and we’re delighted to have him with us for the long term. He’s shown he’s already capable of performing well at the top level, and we’re excited to see him develop even further.

“The permanent signing of Hamed is another mark of our ambition for the coming years, building on this season’s success to compete once again in the Premier League.”

Before his move to Dean Court, Traore gained experience in Serie A with Empoli and Sassuolo, making 140 appearances in the Italian top division scoring 18 times and claiming 10 assists.

Traore has also made four appearances for his country.

Since the move to the Cherries, Traore has been limited to 7 appearances (5 starts), due to injury.

Good news. Showed early promise and I reckon he has the ingredients to be a top player for us once he settles in and gets a full pre-season under his belt. Has been unlucky with injuries.

I’m sure some here will have already written him off though…! – To join the conversation, click here.
