With Christmas approaching the draw for the third round of the FA Cup has been made and the Cherries have been handed an intriguing tie away to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.

AFC Bournemouth will travel to Loftus Road on Saturday 6th January 2024, with the match kicking off at 3 pm.

QPR have been struggling in the Championship in recent times, until recently that is, where they are now showing signs of a recovery with three straight victories.

But prior, to what they hope isn’t just a purple patch, results had been a struggle. Their first home win of the season didn’t come until the 28th November against Stoke, ending a 8-month run at home without taking all three points.

Overall, wins at their Loftus Road home have been few and far between. There have now been double the amount of home wins (two) than there had been in the previous calendar year.

AFC Bournemouth will be reunited with two former players at QPR. Veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Cook are now playing for Queens Park Rangers.

36-year-old Begovic made 122 appearances for the Cherries across two spells with the club in 2007 and between 2017 and 2021.

32-year-old Steve Cook made 388 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2022. He featured for Cherries during their promotion seasons from League One in 2013, the Championship in 2015 and briefly in the 2021/22, before joining Nottingham Forest who also won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs that season.

Between 2015 and 2020, Cook was a mainstay in AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League squad and is due to have a testimonial at Dean Court in the future.

Nice day out that is whatever the score. Good to see Cook and Begovic as well. – To join the conversation, click here.
