AFC Bournemouth and Scottish giants Celtic are once again both interested in the same player, Liverpool’s Ben Davies.

Back in January, both sides reportedly wanted to sign the 25-year-old defender from then side Preston North End, however in somewhat of a shock move, with Liverpool short of defensive cover, the then champions of England swooped in and signed Davies.

Davies had come through the youth team ranks at North End and made his debut in the third tier of English football in January 2013.

He gained experience by dropping down to League Two with a season-long loan spell, before breaking back into the Preston side only to end the following campaign back in League Two on loan with Tranmere Rovers.

During the 2015/16 season, he had two loan spells away from Preston North End, the first in the National League with Southport, before returning once again to League Two with Newport County.

The 2016/17 season saw him feature in the Football League Cup against AFC Bournemouth and then Newcastle United before another loan spell saw him join Fleetwood Town in League One. That campaign saw Fleetwood reach the play-offs. Overall he made 105 appearances in all competitions for his adopted sides.

That spell with Fleetwood Town appeared to be his breakthrough season as for the 2017/18 Championship campaign he was a regular in the side at Preston North End, going on to make 145 appearances in all competitions before his £2million move to Liverpool in February.

However, with Davies failing to make an appearance under Jurgen Klopp, Davies could once again be looking for another loan move, with tabloid newspaper the Daily Mail reporting that one such destination could be Dean Court.

“While Liverpool would rather sell for a hefty profit, Celtic are now in competition with a posse of English clubs – including Championship outfit Bournemouth – to tie up a season-long loan deal.

Interestingly another left-sided centre-back that is also on Celtic’s radar is Tottenham Hotspur and former Cherries loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers, with the same article stating…

“Rubin Kazan defender Carl Starfelt, Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers and free agent wide man Kyle Edwards, formerly of West Brom, have already been linked with the club.

AFC Bournemouth reportedly made an approach to Tottenham Hotspur in May to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis.

Do we share a scouting team with Celtic? That’s about the 3rd player this summer that we’re supposedly both in for.
