AFC Bournemouth travelled to Preston North End on the back of a good run of results and boasting the return of Nat Phillips from illness.

The Liverpool loanee replaced Chris Mepham alongside Lloyd Kelly, which saw the Wales international drop down to the bench, former England international Gary Cahill dropped out of the squad entirely.

Jaidon Anthony returned to the starting XI, with Siriki Dembele dropping down to the substitutes bench, with Ryan Christie also returning to the bench from his injury.

The Cherries took the lead through Jamal Lowe, however, Preston North End equalised shortly afterwards.

Then in the final minute of the game, the Cherries who had recently turned things around in the final moments of games were on the end of the last-minute drama, conceding a late winner and then having AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker and Adam Smith sent off.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game Parker said…

“I just haven’t got a clue for the life of me why the ref didn’t pull it back for a foul. We are at the cutting edge of it and the cutting edge of getting results. We have worked tirelessly as a team. I can forgive mistakes – I’ve made plenty and so have the players.

“But there are some that are unforgivable, and that decision was a stonewall foul that you call back, but the referee didn’t do that. The inconsistency was frustrating and my emotions got the better of me.”

Clear foul (a late tackle) on Billing before their goal. Fair enough for the ref to play advantage as we had the ball but it was then immediately lost by Lowe. So I can see why Parker was annoyed that play wasn’t brought back as billing was still on the floor. Not saying he couldn’t have got up quicker.

Your say…

Extremely unprofessional by Smith and probably Parker too.

The issue is Parker can’t really fine him/criticise due to his own actions unless he admits fault himself.

Nice one Smith, you really showed them. Now looking at a 3 game suspension at a crucial time. After a long layoff. Should know better. – Join the conversation, click here.
