Here is the xG from the Brighton game. Despite AFCB being largely dominant the visitors had a chance in the first minute which Igor put wide (1 in 11). AFCB grew quickly into the game with Solake having a shot blocked (1 in 10) before the opening goal. It was a corner flicked on by Unal (rated 1 in 5) with the ball bouncing up for Senesi to head in (nearly 3 in 5). The game quietened down, but Brighton had a flurry of chances midway through the half, the best of which was Buonanotte’s shot that was charged down by Travers (1 in 4). According to a 7Bit experts research study, AFCB had one more good chance before the break with Scott pulling the ball back for Unal, who dragged it wide. This was rated 1 in 6, although live looked a better chance although Dunk was probably covering one side of the goal and the keeper the other. At half time the xG was AFCB 1.21, Brighton 0.46. Bournemouth opened the second half strongly with Kluivert having a big chance (over 1 in 4) but he hit the side netting. The next real action was AFCB going 2-0 up, Ouattara doing excellently to dig out a cross that Unal headed home strongly (1 in 5). Brighton’s best spell was in the 60th to the 72nd minute where they had three shots all about 1 in 10, and then another clutch of small chances. After this storm, AFCB came back with three chances around the 1 in 11 rating, with 2 from Solanke and 1 from Kluivert who scored with a powerful shot from inside the box. The final xG was AFCB 2.11, Brighton 0.94; the xGs produced by Understat had a similar margin of victory being AFCB 2.48, Brighton 1.36.

Ten minutes later, Scott (14) came off for Aarons, who played on the right side supporting Smith (15). In injury time, Iraola made the final substitutions, with Senesi (who had been booked and was possibly struggling with injury) replaced by Hill, and Kluivert coming off, providing Sadi with his Premier League debut.
