Newly appointed AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker will take charge of his first game against the side from stadium:MK in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Entering the competition at the first round stage, the Cherries were handed a home tie in the competition, but a date had not been set.

That date is now Saturday 31st July, with a 3pm kick-off, bringing forward AFC Bournemouth’s official start to the 2021/22 season by a week.

With uncertainty remaining on when Coronavirus restrictions will ease, ticket availability is yet to be made.

The last time these two sides met was three years ago, also in this competition with AFC Bournemouth winning 3-0. The goalscorers on that occasion were Lys Mousset, Ryan Fraser and Jordon Ibe.

The last time the club from stadium:MK won against the Cherries was in February 2012 in a third-tier game under former manager Lee Bradbury.

What sort of crowd do people expect for the Carabao cup? Normally I’d say not full, especially if season ticket holders have to pay extra (do they?). However, because we haven’t been at a game for so long and it is Parker’s first game in charge, it may change.

Coincidentally, I’m down in Bournemouth for both this and the WBA game. I want to take my son along if possible. I know it’s a long shot for WBA, but thought I had a chance for MK Dons – Join the conversation, click here.
