With the managerial position at AFC Bournemouth up in the air for so long, transfer rumours at Dean Court have been very limited. So far this summer the only potential link had been to Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, who had enjoyed a loan spell on the south coast last season.

However, Carter-Vickers has picked up quite a few admirers due to his form towards the end of the campaign with the Cherries, with Newcastle United reportedly interested.

Understandably then, if reports are accurate, that AFC Bournemouth are now looking around at other options to strengthen the centre of defence ahead of the 2021/22 Championship season.

The Scottish Sun newspaper have reported that one potential target could be St Johnstone captain Jason Kerr.

The 24-year-old only has 12 months remaining with the Scottish outfit and could be available for around £400,000 according to the Scottish tabloid.

The former Scotland Under-21 international won the Scottish Cup double last season lifting the Scottish FA Cup and Scottish League Cup.

Kerr has been with St Johnstone for his entire career to-date, but made his Scottish League debut on loan with East Fife in August 2015 where he spent two seasons one in Scottish League Two and one season in Scottish League One. Kerr then joined Queen of the South on loan in August 2017, stepping up again to the Scottish Championship, however within half a season he returned to St Johnstone and made his Scottish Premiership debut in February 2018.

In all competitions, Kerr has made 237 appearances.

AFC Bournemouth could face competition from League One sides Wigan Athletic and Oxford United.

No objections based on who might be scouting, who’s decision it might be or what position he plays.

The objection would be that he appears to lack pace and passing accuracy to progress to Premier League, and should be behind Rossi who has more upside with a few years to develop.

His biggest attribute looks like leadership and depending on where it’s listed, he is at least 6 foot. Based on recent history he isn’t injury-prone either. – Join the conversation, click here.
