AFC Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Dango Ouattara from Lorient, with the winger signing a five-and-a-half year contract at Dean Court.

Dango has scored six goals and claimed six assists in 18 Ligue 1 games this season and was also reportedly of interest to Premier League rivals Everton and Leicester City.

Interest in the Burkina Faso international by AFC Bournemouth was previously reported last week, before the partial takeover of Lorient was confirmed by Cherries owner Bill Foley.

Whilst a transfer fee was not mentioned in a statement by AFC Bournemouth, according to Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam a fee in the region of £ 20 million has been agreed with the French club.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk

“We are pleased to secure the services of Dango, a promising and sought-after player with a great deal of potential.

“We have been monitoring him for a period of time and he fits the profile of the young, ambitious, hungry and hard-working player this club is looking to recruit.

“Bill has outlined his ambitious plans for the club and the signing of an exciting prospect like Dango is testament to the direction he is looking to take us.”

In a statement on their website, Lorient wrote (translated via Google translate)…

“FC Lorient would like to warmly thank Dango for his professionalism, his investment and wishes him a good continuation for the rest of his career in England, an objective for him. Thanks Dango!

Well hopefully having a fresh face in our team and if he lives up to what we have heard we have an exciting player in our squad.

But we need to give the lad a bit of time to settle in and not judge the lad on his first few performances.

Maybe he might not be thrown in from the start but may instead come off the bench on Saturday. – To join the conversation, click here.
