This Is A Game We Need Points From

It’s becoming like a broken record, but yet again AFCB suffered another defeat in their away game at Brentford. That’s now four straight defeats in the Premier League since the World Cup break. The Cherries have a chance at home on Saturday at 3 pm to put an end to these defeats. Our opponents are Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest team who earlier in the season had a run of five straight defeats, including the game against AFCB.

Nottingham Forest at the start of the Premier League season after the World Cup break were in a relegation spot in 18th place on 13 points after 15 games. AFCB were in a mid-table 13th place on 16 points. Now after four league games, the two clubs’ fortunes have changed, Forest have won two games, drawn one and lost one, scored four and conceded four. As mentioned above, AFCB have lost all four, no goals scored and conceded nine goals. Nottingham Forest now sits in 13th place on 20 points, AFCB are in 17th place on 16 points.

Since our clubs last met back at their ground back in September, Forest on their travels have beaten Saints 0-1, drawn 0-0 against Brighton and lost 4-0 at Leicester, 1-0 against Wolves, 5-0 against leaders Arsenal and 3-0 against Manchester United. At their City Ground, they won 1-0 against Liverpool and Crystal Palace. Their other victory was 2-0 against Leicester City. Forest have drawn three, 1-1 with Aston Villa, 2-2 against Brentford and 1-1 with Chelsea. One defeat, 2-3 against Fulham.

The last time the two clubs met at Dean Court was on Tuesday 3rd of May. It was the first of two home games which were the last two of our Championship season. It was a memorable night with both sides drawing 0-0 up to the 83rd minute. The Cherries had a free kick just outside the penalty box and Philip Billing was taking it. Billing saw Kieffer Moore was unmarked on the left of the box and passed to him and Moore swept the ball into the far corner to put AFCB into the lead, there were no more goals and our club were promoted into the Premier League for the second time and the celebrations began.

In our home games against Forest, AFCB have W 6, D 1, L 2.
In all our league games home and away, AFCB have W 8, D 5, L 6.

AFCB Team News
Adam Smith will be available again after suspension. On the latest injury news, Dominic Solanke and Lewis Cook have knee injuries and no update reports yet. Otherwise, it’s the usual four we know about. Dango Ouattara is on the point of joining our club for a fee reported to be £20 million, the club hope to have the deal finalised in time for Saturday’s game.

AFCB Player To Watch
If he starts, Dango Ouattara will be a new and hopefully exciting player to watch, from reports he is a different type of player from what we already have.

Nottingham Forest Team News
They have made two signings from Palmeiras both in midfield. Danilo for a reported £18 million and Gustavo Scarpa on a free transfer. Josh Bowler has gone out on loan to Blackpool. They also have nine players with injuries, which include goalkeeper Dean Henderson who is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. Taiwo Awoniyi and Ryan Yates.

Nottingham Player To Watch
Morgan Gibbs-White and Brennan Johnson, in their last win against Leicester City, Johnson scored two, assisted twice by Gibbs-White. Also if they play their two Brazilian signings.

The Referee
Andy Madley is in charge of this game. We had him once last season in our home win against Derby County.

AFC Bournemouth head coach Gary O’Neil is probably thinking I am one more loss away from a nice paid 1 million pound holiday or however much his contract is worth. The pressure is off him – the fans have make their opinion be known (rightly or wrongly). Hopefully, he can use the negative as a positive and use it as motivation – “they think we’re :poop:poor – let’s make them eat their words” a bit like when Parker sort of did the same.

To be honest, if we lose and actually play well for a change, that would exceed my expectations. Without Dom, teams know they can pin us back and hurt us without having to worry about our attacking threat (we have Moore but nobody can take a set piece or cross the ball).
Gibbs-White ran over to our fans to celebrate his goal and when Phil Bill scored shortly afterwards and celebrated to the Sheffield Utd fans that was poetic. If their wingers are kept quiet then we should do well. I am hoping Smudge and Kelly can look after MGW and Brennan Johnson. – To join the conversation, click here.
