AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Kieffer Moore from Cardiff City, with the 29-year-old penning a three-and-a-half-year contract on the south coast.

The deal is officially undisclosed, with Cardiff City confirming that Moore submitted a transfer request to the Welsh side to try and force a move.

WalesOnline have reported that the fee could rise to around £5million, whilst the Daily Echo have reported a fee of £3.5million. Either way, it does appear to be a cut-price deal when previous figures being suggested in the media that Cardiff were pushing for an eight-figure fee.

With AFC Bournemouth short of numbers in attack, signing a striker appeared to be a priority for the Cherries and it emerged quite early on that AFC Bournemouth’s first-choice forward target was Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore.

The 29-year-old Wales international has previous roots on the south coast having played for both Dorchester Town and Yeovil Town between the years 2013-2015.

Following a short spell in Norway and plying his trade in non-league football with Forest Green Rovers and Torquay United, he made the move to the second-tier of English football in 2016 with Ipswich Town. Two fruitless seasons followed, but he rediscovered his scoring form on loan in League One with Rotherham United in 2017/18 and then made the move to Barnsley to score his first Championship goals, only to later be relegated.

After scoring 17 goals in 31 League One appearances for Barnsley, Moore made the step back up to the Championship with Wigan Athletic. 10 goals in 36 appearances earned him a £2million move to Cardiff City in 2020.

Since joining Cardiff he has netted 25 goals in 63 second-tier appearances.

As I said here last week, looks like you are going to land a bargain. We were resigned to losing Moore, but the price is disappointing.

Cardiff’s priority this season is staying up and I think we should do that. No money for new players, but we have brought in four on loan, who all started on Saturday in what was the best performance of the season.

We will miss Moore, but I guess the fee we get will be funding the four loans, which have brought a much better balance to the side.

Moore plays better with better players around him, which is why he has impressed more for Wales than at club level up to now.

He can play as a lone striker or in a two and is a lot more skilful and quick than you would expect for such a big guy.

Moore will run himself into the ground and is an absolute nightmare for defenders. Players around him are going to benefit from his work ethic. He has an excellent first touch and will invariably draw half a dozen fouls a game from defenders trying to go through him. – Join the conversation, click here.
