A gutsy team performance against Liverpool at Dean Court won our side all three vital points. Our side with that win behind them are on their travels to the Midlands to Villa Park to play Aston Villa on Saturday at 3 pm, it will be the last game before the international break. The Cherries have won on their last two visits to Villa Park and will be hoping to make it three.

We last met Aston Villa at Dean Court for our opening game of this season, their manager was Steven Gerrard, AFCB opened the season with a 2-0 win. In his first eleven Premier League games, Gerrard’s side won two games, drew three and lost six. Villa were away at Fulham for the eleventh game and lost 3-0. This left Villa in 17th place with 9 points, equal with Wolves in 18th place both with the same number of points and GD. After the Fulham game, it was the departing of ways with Gerrard and Aston Villa.

Aaron Banks the first team coach was in charge of Villa’s next two games after the sacking of Gerrard, the first game was at home and he saw his side have a resounding 4-0 win against Brentford, but also his side lost away at Newcastle 4-0 the following week. Unai Emery, who was announced as the new Aston Villa manager the day after the Brentford game, wasn’t going to start his new job until the 1st November, as work permit formalities had to be sorted.

Unai Emery left Villarreal to take up the Villa post and previous to that was the manager at Arsenal and had successful spells at Paris St Germain and Sevilla. Emery had a good start in front of the home fans at Villa Park, seeing his side beat Manchester United 3-1. Their other home results under Emery have been 2-1 win against Leeds United and 1-0 against Crystal Palace. They have drawn 1-1 with Wolves and lost 1-3 against Liverpool and 2-4 against both Leicester City and Arsenal.

Away, Emery’s side have beaten Brighton, Spurs, Southampton and Everton. Lost against Manchester City. The most recent game was against West Ham at the London Stadium, it finished 1-1. Aston Villa after 26 games are in 11th place with 35 points.

The last time we played Aston Villa away was in August 2019. The Cherries started off well with two goals in the first twelve minutes. Very early in the game, Callum Wilson was brought down in the penalty area and Josh King scored from the spot. On his debut, Harry Wilson scored the Cherries second goal in the 12th minute. Aston Villa scored a second-half goal from Douglas Luiz, but the score finished 1-2 and three points for AFCB.

In the last four games at home, Villa have won 2 and lost 2. The last four games away, AFCB have won 1 and lost 3.

In our away league games against Aston Villa, AFCB have W 2, D 1, L 1.
In all competitions, AFCB have W 5, D 1, L 4.

Aston Villa Team News
They signed two players in January. Defender Alex Moreno for £13.3 million from Real Betis and forward Jhon Duran for an undisclosed fee from Chicago Fire. One player who left was Danny Ings who joined West Ham for £15 million. They have had four players out injured, Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara, Leander Dendoncker and Jed Steer.

Aston Villa Player To Watch
Ollie Watkins has scored six goals in his last seven league games. He is top scorer with 9 goals and is second highest with 4 assists. Another player is our old player Tyrone Mings, in his seasons at Dean Court he didn’t play many games, through serious injury etc. But since he joined Aston Villa he has become a regular face for their fans and even was selected for our national team.

AFCB Team News
Adam Smith is the latest addition to the injury list with a groin injury. Others who have been out are Junior Stanislas, Illa Zabarni, Marcus Tavernier and Hamed Traore.

AFCB Player To Watch
Philip Billing has been in good form in our last two games against the top clubs. Scoring that quick goal at Arsenal and the winner against Liverpool. Leading scorer with 6 goals.
Dango Ouattara has been getting better with every game and gave the Liverpool defence a lot of problems and provided the assist for our goal, his third assist in 7 starts.

The Referee
Is Robert Jones, not had him yet this season. Last season he was in charge of our home game against Sheffield United and the away game against Blackburn Rovers. AFCB won both games.

It looks like anyone hoping to use the train is out of luck. They’re charging £104 to get you back home in 17 hours in what resembles a Round Britain Tour, no doubt including a few miles on horseback! – To join the conversation, click here.
