Earlier this month AFC Bournemouth were linked with an interest in Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.

Reports suggested that the Cherries had asked to be kept in the loop regarding any potential sale of the 19-year-old.

This week, it looked likely that Turnbull’s departure had taken a rather large step forward, with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic making a £3million offer which was accepted by Motherwell.

When Celtic or Glasgow neighbours Rangers come knocking in Scotland, there must usually be a feel of inevitability about a transfer being completed. Who would turn down playing for such a prestigious club with such a big fan base?

Well, it appears David Turnbull would.

The Daily Record have reported that with potential interest from English clubs, Turnbull has snubbed Celtic’s offer and the deal is currently off after personal terms were not agreed.

The report claimed…

“the 19-year-old’s representatives have turned down a lucrative contract offer and are now touting the youngster to clubs in England.”

Turnbull scored 15 goals in 30 Scottish Premiership matches during the 2018/19 season.

You know, of all the players we would inevitably be linked with this summer, I was not expecting the one advertised by a random Motherwell fan to be both the most LIKELY, and the one I’m most excited about!

The more I read about him, the more I know he’d thrive for us and the more I want him. You don’t turn down Celtic as a young Scottish player if you don’t have some degree of knowledge on what your worth as a player and what your ceiling is.
