Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham from the Premier League’s big six all remain in the Caraboa Cup, or the EFL / Football League Cup as it is known to most.

Having previously dispatched with the side from stadium: MK and Blackburn Rovers in the second and third round of the competition AFC Bournemouth also feature in the last 16 (however it is a last 17 as Everton and Southampton are yet to play their third round fixture).

As there are 11 Premier League clubs remaining in the competition the chances of the Cherries avoiding another top flight club in the draw were slim, however, Championship sides Derby County, Middlesbrough, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest were also all in the hat, alongside League One outfits Burton Albion and Blackpool.

Who would AFC Bournemouth face? Will it be another night under the lights at Dean Court?

Yes, was the answer and it will be another club from outside the Premier League.

Norwich City will be making the trip to the south coast.

AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, who scored the Cherries last-gasp winner against Blackburn Rovers in the last round told the Daily Echo before the draw…

“…we are not just in the competition to take part.

“We are in it and we want to win it. Every game you play you want to get a positive result from.

“Any player, manager and club wants to win trophies and medals. We have opportunities in the cup and we should try to go as far as we can.

“We just need to keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard.”

Your say…
