AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter is expected to miss out on the chance to represent Republic of Ireland in the upcoming international window.

Arter had been named in Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad for the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Wales on Friday.

However a scan on his injured calf on Tuesday (click for previous article) revealed a grade one strain which saw him unavailable for the Cherries squad for Saturday evening’s victory over Swansea City live on BT Sport.

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo

“I don`t know if he will be okay for international week.

“Missing today (Swansea City) was obviously a blow for him and for us and I think he will potentially be out of the Ireland squad.

“I don`t know officially but I would have thought there is no way he will play.”

Arter is a big loss although good to see Lewis Cook is fit again and has made the bench.Join the conversation here.
