Following reported interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, AFC Bournemouth attacker David Brooks has signed a contract extension to remain with the Cherries until, at the very least, the end of the 2022/23 season.

Tottenham and Manchester United love Bournemouth starlet

Unfortunately, the club have not officially disclosed how long the 21-year-old’s new contract is, only referring to the deal contract as “a new long-term contract”, but when he joined AFC Bournemouth from Sheffield United in the summer for a fee in the region of £11.5million that deal was confirmed as a four-year-deal.

Changes in Brooks representation made move possible

Brooks in his interview after signing new terms confirms he has signed an extension, meaning his contract cannot be set to expire until the end of the 2022/23 season at the earliest.

David Brooks has made 23 Premier League appearances thus far this season, scoring 6 goals and claiming 4 assists.

AFC Bournemouth and Wales international David Brooks told afcb.co.uk

“When talks started about a new deal it was something I wanted and it didn’t take long to sort out, When I arrived at the club, not many people would have anticipated the start I have made – myself included.

“I’m happy with the amount of games I’ve played and the performances I’ve put in for the team.

“I’ve loved every minute of my time here so far and I’m really happy to extend my contract.”

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe added…

“David has impressed everyone from the minute he stepped through the door, with his mature, creative performances on the pitch backed up by a good attitude and professional lifestyle off it.

“This contract means he can concentrate on developing his game with us, and it’s been an excellent start to David’s AFC Bournemouth career.”

Obviously, contracts don’t mean too much these days but at least it would mean any transfer fee would surely become higher now. I do think he’s a sensible young lad and will be quite happy to build his career here for a while longer yet. – Join the conversation, click here.
