AFC Bournemouth favourite Mark Molesley will undergo surgery in Southampton on Thursday.
The midfielder has tried to avoid the operation, but has now conceded defeat and will go under the knife, with surgeons repairing a stress fracture in his left foot.
The operation is likely to rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Molesley told the Daily Echo…
‘…I tried the boot, crutches, and this and that, but I`ve run out of options so I`m going to have to have the operation.
“This is my lowest point in football because it has followed my biggest high.
“We stayed up last season and now we`re sitting at the top of the league after a good start. I`m going from the best football has ever been for me and now it`s not there – and there`s nothing I can do about it.”
