Former AFC Bournemouth manager and striker Jimmy Quinn has insisted that he played his part in the Cherries great escape last season.

Jimmy Quinn who had replaced Kevin Bond after just four matches. Lasted just 24 games as Cherries manager, winning 7 and averaging 1.21 points per game.

Quinn was then replaced by Eddie Howe, who in 23 matches, won 12 games, averaging 1.70 points per game.

Quinn told the Daily Echo

“It was a complete disaster from day one with Bournemouth – it was a long way to go to get messed about.

“I know Eddie Howe has had a lot of plaudits since and rightly so.

“I brought Eddie back to the club after he had been sacked and they were on minus 15 when I took over. I left them on plus seven so I played my part in them staying up.”

Quinn was set to become Weymouth manager on Tuesday, however Weymouth owner George Rolls opted against the idea at the eleventh hour, cancelling a scheduled press conference and withdrawing the offer.
