Former Cherries striker Jimmy Quinn has been named as the new AFC Bournemouth manager following the sacking of Kevin Bond.

The 48 year old, will be joined at the club by former AFC Bournemouth utility man Jason Tindall, who will be Quinn`s assistant.

During his playing career, Quinn won 46 caps for Northern Ireland scoring 12 International goals and played for the Cherries during the 1991/92 season, scoring 19 goals in 43 games.

Jimmy Quinn started his managerial career as a player-manager at Reading in 1994, narrowly missing out on leading the team to the Premier League at Wembley in a 4-3 (AET) Play-Off defeat to Bolton.

The side would have won automatic promotion for finishing second in any other season, but the Premier League was going through a re-shuffle cutting the teams in the division down from 22 to 20.

His overall record at Reading was?

Played 132, Won 48, Drew 36, Lost 48 (average points per game 1.36)

He returned to management with Swindon Town in 1998 before moving onto Northwich Victoria and Shrewsbury Town leaving them in 2004, previously winning promotion for the club through the Conference play-offs.

His overall record at these three clubs was?

Played 254, Won 83, Draws 65, Lost 106 (average points per game 1.24)

He had a brief 5 month spell at Egersund IK in Norway before joining Cambridge United in September 2006, ironically at the time replacing recently sacked Cherries assistant manger Rob Newman as manager.

His first full season ended at Wembley as Quinn steered Cambridge United to second in the league and to the Blue Square Premier League Play-Off final, losing to Exeter City before being sacked during the summer.

Quinn was sacked while he was on holiday, a move that baffled some Cambridge supporters and Quinn himself who spoke to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

His Cambridge United league record was?

Played 83, Won 39, Draws 18, Losses 26 (average points per game 1.63)
