In another season…

|

Written by kirsikka

…Steve Cook doesn’t get injured when AFC Bournemouth have got their noses in front against Premier League champions-elect Liverpool

…all our other central defenders aren’t out injured meaning we have to bring on a player who panics in the atmosphere gifting Liverpool a goal

…Callum Wilson isn’t in the worst form of his life and sticks away that equaliser at the end which VAR would likely then have allowed

…Joshua King wouldn’t be out injured again as he would have been perfect for today’s counterattacking setup

…we don’t have so many players out that Dominic Solanke ends up on the pitch, with his only contribution being to injure one of our own players.

In another season these so many more. It just feels like one of those years where it’s never going to run for us.

Make no mistake, we’re back giving people a game again. We just can’t get that burst of luck you sometimes need. Even when we (finally…. after weeks of getting stuffed by the officials) get a decision that maybe helps, the injury curse almost immediately reverses it.

It’s starting to feel like we won’t turn it around in time in terms of results. All we can do is keep putting in those performances though…

Your say…

You are right…. losing to Liverpool is also not the issue. We have never won at Anfield. The bigger problem is the games against Watford x2 Norwich x2, Brighton and West Ham where we didn’t even try. Six points in any of those and we could have gone today and relaxed.

Also much more we can do internally to work on levels of fitness and not make basic errors like bringing on Dominic Solanke. Time to put him in the Jordon Ibe box say s*** happens and move on developing Sam Surridge who at least has scored against prem and championship level sides fairly regularly. – Join the conversation, click here.
