AFC Bournemouth made the trip to Huddersfield Town for the crucial second versus third in the Championship fixture.

Off the back of a run of three consecutive home games at Dean Court, AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker made just two changes, bringing back Adam Smith and Philip Billing from their most recent suspensions.

This saw the return of Smith and Ryan Christie down the right-hand side and Billing linking up with both Jordan Zemura and Jaidon Anthony down the left-flank. Jefferson Lerma played in a slightly more advanced role with Lewis Cook continuing his bright form on a deep midfield role.

Dominic Solanke continued up front, whilst Nat Phillips and Lloyd Kelly continued to try and forge their centreback pairing.

After the match, which saw goals from Anthony, Lerma and Solanke, Parker told Sky Sports

“It was arguably one of our best performances of the season in every facet. We stuck to the plan and then executed and were very clinical and fluid. It was a big result but a massive performance from us. Huddersfield are a good side but we were too good for them, I think that’s fair to say. Today was the first time we got an all-round performance from start to finish. To come here where Huddersfield have done so well and do that is a massive boost for us so we need to take that.

“He (Solanke) was incredible. His goals are pivotal for us and he’s always at the end of things when we want to put the ball in the net. He gave a platform for us when we had to go long a bit. I don’t think there’s a number nine out there, including the Premier League, who puts in the numbers and the graft in games that he does. He was fully worthy of his goal and is fully worthy of all the goals he’s scored this year.”

Haven’t seen total control like that since the start of the season. Reminded me of Barnsley at home, not just from the scoreline. We looked like a threat every time we moved forward.

It’s been quite a trek up north today, but we’ve played with enterprise and for once no need to cling on after taking the lead.

Scotty has answered the call for more thrust…the performance has been lightyears better.

At times I felt that Huddersfield came into the game without any confidence. They seemed wary of our player’s skill and lacked the means to nullify that. Looked like Men vs boys for the whole game. Every one of our players was on top form and that makes us look like automatic promotion candidates provided we do nothing silly.

Just wish we could be more consistent in terms of results. It’s odd that often our away form seems to have more fight than our home form. Are the players intimidated by us?

Our squad does contain a very healthy % of players that were either promoted with us last time, played in pressure games in PL, international football or were involved with playoffs last season.

Hopefully will give us another edge over some of the opposition.
