AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased with how his players reacted at Barnsley following the midweek defeat at Charlton.

The Cherries had lost away to Charlton on Tuesday night after conceding a stoppage time goal via Dorian Dervite.

Those three points lifted Charlton out of the relegation zone and Barnsley, who had won two from their last three home games would have hoped to replicate Charlton’s result against Eddie Howe’s side to help in their own relegation battle.

However, after suffering the heartache of a last minute defeat just four days earlier, AFC Bournemouth took all three points against Barnsley with a Steve Cook goal coming in the 94th minute.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent

“There were questions asked after Tuesday, the fact that we got beaten by a team that were struggling at the bottom of the table, And thankfully the players answered those questions today and answered them in a positive fashion…’

‘…We felt we had done enough to get another important point (at Charlton) and build on our recent successes, so to concede with practically the last kick of the game was a real sickener.

“And then we do it to Barnsley. It`s strange how the football Gods work.”
