AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was left baffled with how his side lost to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

The Cherries had taken an early lead through a fabulous goal scored by Andrew Surman.

The midfielder curled the ball from distance into the top corner to give AFC Bournemouth the perfect start.

However despite dominating possession against a Forest side who were happy to sit deep and get men behind the ball, the Cherries couldn’t capitalise and eventually conceded through a corner.

Then on the stroke of half time a controversial free kick was awarded against Simon Francis and Henri Lansbury scored what turned out to be the winner with an excellently taken curling free kick.

Howe told the Daily Echo

“With the way we started the game I was baffled to have lost that game.

‘We came out of the traps very quickly, played some great football and scored a really good goal and you thought it would be a really good night for us.

“Our two wide men and full-backs were excellent and our midfielders dominated the game but unfortunately for us, we slightly lost our momentum after that and conceded a poor goal from a set-piece and then a free-kick right on half-time…’

‘…Some of our decision-making was slightly off towards the end and we did not work the goalkeeper enough the longer it went on…’
