AFC Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling insists that the target for the 2017/18 Premier League campaign is to better the Cherries 9th place finish last season.

After winning the Football League Championship and promotion to the top flight of English football, AFC Bournemouth have impressed upon the Premier League.

During their maiden season, the Cherries finished 16th with 42 points.

Their second season showed continued progression, finishing with an improved points and goals scored record.

A ninth place finish in the Premier League setting a new club record for the highest finish in the clubs history.

But Gosling has his sights on breaking that record once again in the upcoming campaign.

Gosling told the Daily Echo

‘For a club of our size, and where we have come from, finishing ninth was a huge achievement and one that should be remembered for a long time.

‘But each year we try to better what we have done before. We did that last season and now we will aim to finish even higher.

‘Hopefully, we will bring in some quality players over the summer and improve the squad again…’

Discussing the fixtures for the upcoming Premier League campaign that was released this week he added…

‘…I always look at who we are playing over the Christmas period first, then who we start and finish the season against. Everything else takes care of itself
