Former AFC Bournemouth co-owner and chairman Jeff Mostyn has announced that he has left the Cherries.

Following the sale of AFC Bournemouth from Russian businessman Maxim Demin to American businessman Bill Foley in December 2022, Mostyn has served as AFC Bournemouth club ambassador. Leaving the role as AFC Bournemouth chairman to Bill Foley.

Mostyn’s involvement in the Cherries has spanned 16 years, as owner he witnessed the club’s administration, a 1o point deduction from the Football League which resulted in relegation from League One in 2008, and a subsequent 17-point deduction the following year which almost saw the Cherries fall into the abyss of non-league football and probable extinction, only to be saved by the appointment of Eddie Howe as manager maintaining our League Two status.

The following 16 months saw a transfer embargo, the club avoiding relegation from the fourth tier of English football, to promotion from it in 2010.

Mostyn has overseen the sale of the club from Eddie Mitchell to Maxim Demin and the resulting rise up the Football League from League One, to winners of the Championship and up to the Premier League.

A five-year stint in the top flight of English football came alongside the world being hit with the COVID-19 pandemic, but after two short years in the Championship, the club returned back to the Premier League and maintained that status in the top tier of English football for the 2022/23 campaign.

In an open letter to supporters published on afcb.co.uk, Mostyn said…

“…I have enjoyed every moment of my time as your Chairman and most recently Club Ambassador with this remarkable football club, but feel that the time is now right for me to look forward to the next chapter and focus on other projects.

“After such a long time working in the most rewarding role you could wish for, announcing this decision was always going to be a difficult step to take. However, I am leaving with unwavering excitement about the direction in which the club is heading.

“It has been a pleasure to work in my ambassadorial role since last season’s takeover, and I am confident that the vision and investment being made by Bill Foley will lead to great things and continued success in the coming years…”
