AFC Bournemouth legend, scout and club ambassador Steve Fletcher believes that Tokelo Rantie will now grow in confidence after scoring his first goal for the club.

The South African International, who is currently away on International duty ahead of a friendly with World Cup Winners Spain, scored his first goal in English football against Burnley just over a week ago.

The stunning goal, earned the Cherries a well deserved point away to the Championship leaders, while the goal rewarded Rantie for his high level of performances and work rate since joining the club for a record fee from Swedish side Malmo.

Fletch told the Daily Echo

“He is a player who is going to get better with time and he is slowly but surely showing the ability that we believe in and that we saw when we scouted him…’

‘…He has bags of ability and it is going to take time to come into the English league with the demands of the Championship. It is going to take time and work on the training pitch with the manager, JT (Jason Tindall) and the coaching staff. He has to learn the English game and learn to adapt to the way we play as a team.

“The only way he can get his experience and get better is by playing games. He got his rewards with a fabulous goal at Burnley and, hopefully, that will be the kick-start he needs to grow in confidence…’
