Darryl Flahavan is confident a new deal will be made with AFCB despite limited opportunities in 2013/14.

The experienced goalkeeper only made one substitute appearance against Leeds following Ryan Allsop’s dismissal, but an injury accrued in that match, along with the addition of a splendid Lee Camp, meant the 35 year-old was restricted to time spent on the sidelines.

Despite interest from other parties though, Flahavan is keen to stay on the south coast and finalise a new deal rather than depart now that his contract has ended. He told the Daily Echo:

‘I did look at the couple of things when they came up but felt that with the way the club has been going, that this was the place to be. At some stage over the next few weeks, I`m sure we will get something sorted.’

With competition for places high though within the club though, particularly between the sticks, Flahavan is more than aware he is going to have to produce if he is to have another run in the side similar to that in the 2011/12 season:

‘I`m not naive to think that I`m going to come in and play every game but if the chance comes along, I need to be ready because I still feel fit enough to play into my forties if I`m honest. Given the opportunity, if someone believes in me to continue as a player, then I think I`m more than capable of delivering. I train well, eat well and look after myself. I still feel as though I can go on for a number of years.’
