With transfer rumours now ready to fill the back pages, Cherries centre-back Steve Cook, has stated his desire to take the step up in division hopefully with AFCB.

After an impressive season in The Championship, the former Brighton defender has gain admirers, with rumours having already linked him to Norwich, West Brom, and particularly with Crystal Palace.

As Cook told the Daily Echo though, that is of no change to previous years:

‘I think it is inevitable that some of our players will be linked with other clubs after the excellent season we have had. Bournemouth has always attracted interest from other clubs and you only have to see how many players have left in the past.’

The difference to the past is well-known, but after a successful first season back in the second tier, the players, and club as a whole, now know they cannot afford to let their good work go to waste and the drive to continue progressing is clearly evident from Cook:

‘I don`t see any reason why the club would need to sell players because it is only going in one direction. Hopefully, next season we can build on the past couple of months and be where I think we should have been this season. The play-offs and maybe pushing for automatic promotion has to be the aim.’

The real dream is obviously the Premier League though. A division The Cherries have never experienced. But there is now a belief, and for Cook, he would love to reach the career pinnacle with the club who have given him the chance and the subsequent interest it has lead to:

‘But everyone in this squad wants to play in the Premier League and, hopefully, it can be for this club. It is every boy`s dream to play in the top flight and we want to be pushing for promotion next season.’
