Scott Malone has started to atone for his poorly worded departure from AFCB after his Millwall side secured 3 points on Saturday.

After claiming he would have the ‘last laugh’ when he made the switch to South London in May 2012, Malone’s perception from Cherries supporters unsurprisingly deteriorated instantly. He was even booed by the visiting supporters on Saturday when receiving the runner-up award in Millwall’s player-of-the-year awards.

However, after securing three points and with it survival, the left-sided player has finally decided that an apology and explanation was required.

As he told the Daily Echo:

‘I left on a bit of a sour note but didn’t mean any harm with what I said. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and played some of my best football in the 12 months I was there, especially after I had signed permanently. You make decisions in football and I made my mine to leave but shouldn’t have said what I said. I really hope they go on and do well next season.’
