Shwan Jalal, released by AFC Bournemouth this week after six years at the Club, has paid tribute to the Club and the fans.

Jalal joined AFCB in 2008 on a free transfer from Peterborough, and played a key part in the Club’s escape from relegation in 2008/9, followed by promotopn to League 1 in 2009/10, making 147 appearances in his six-season stay.

In an interview on afcb.co.uk , he said leaving AFCB would take some getting used to.

‘To leave such a great club, which will always remain a massive part of my life, is going to be strange. But I’m proud and privileged to have played a part in its history and its rise up the leagues.

‘When I came here the club was in League Two and had minus 17 points, but look at it now. It’s great to have that feeling.

Jalal also paid tribute to the Club’s fans:

‘The fans here have been absolutely terrific for me, The relationship I have got with the supporters in the Steve Fletcher stand is something that will stay with me.

“To run out before a game and have them chant my name has been a huge honour.
