AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook was pleased with the performance the Cherries made against Bolton under the pressure of the promotion push.

An expectant crowd and Sky Sports television coverage believed the Cherries would clinch promotion to the Premier League on Monday night.

But against Bolton Wanderers, managed by Neil Lennon who won three Scottish Premier League titles as manager of Celtic and players such as Adam le Fondre who has previously won the Championship with Reading, Emile Heskey 62 caps for England, UEFA Cup winner with Liverpool and Eidur Gudjohnsen a UEFA Champions League winner with Barcelona and league title winner in both Spain and England it wasn’t going to be easy.

But the Cherries dominated possession and put on a display and showed just how good the side can be, winning 3-0 and clinching virtual promotion to the Premier League in the process.

Cook told the Daily Echo

“Without doubt it is the moment of my career so far and one we all have to savour.

“Things like this don`t happen too often and you can see what it means to everyone. It`s unbelievable…’

“…It took courage, maturity and confidence to play the way we did (against Bolton). We knew we were going to go up and the biggest reason we saw it through was because we treated it like any other game.”
