AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that for a second season, the Cherries will enjoy a pre-season training camp in the USA.

The Cherries will travel to Chicago on the 10th July for a 10 day training camp before travelling to Minnesota to play Minnesota United at the National Sports Centre Stadium on Wednesday 20th July, 7pm local time.

Minnesota United are not one of the franchise teams who currently play in Major League Soccer, instead they feature in the North American Soccer League (NASL).

NASL comprises of 12 teams, 9 from the United States, 2 from Canada and 1 from Puerto Rico and it acts as the second tier of the USA soccer pyramid, although there is no promotion to the MLS.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk

‘Last year the first-team travelled to Philadelphia and it proved to be incredibly beneficial, It’s important that pre-season preparations are done correctly and we’re pleased that we will be travelling to America once again.

“Not only will the trip provide the squad with important time together both on and off the training pitches, but it will also be great to play our first game of pre-season against Minnesota United.

‘It promises to be another successful trip ahead of our second season in the Premier League.”
