This will not be a game that Jason Tindall will want to watch back anytime soon, not even on his phone.

Defeat to Sheffield Wednesday cost Tindall his job as AFC Bournemouth manager, being sacked within hours of the full-time whistle ending an association with the club spanning 20 years.

Following the match, but prior to his dismissal, Tindall told the Daily Echo

“…I think you could sense the lack of confidence and belief – certainly in the first half from the guys. Making mistakes that, early part of the season, wasn’t there.

“It’s a young group of players and when you concede the goal we did – certainly the first goal – you can’t account for that, you can’t plan for that…”

“..Once we equalised, you could see we were the team that was pushing and the team that looked like they were going to score if there was going to be another goal in the game.

“We got done with the sucker-punch goal right at the end.

“Unfortunately, a little bit of a lack of organisation that led up to the second goal – we missed a couple of duels in the middle of the pitch – didn’t stop the cross coming in and it was a great header at the back post from Rhodes.

“It was obviously a big blow for us.”

I’m a firm believer that the ultimate responsibility lies with the players themselves. Too many seem to have the inability to pass the ball or do the simple things. The changes at half time made a difference and we were more direct but ultimately no manager can legislate for individual mistakes and players who don’t appear to be arsed.

Whether the players are deliberately undermining JT or just can’t be arsed because they know they can engineer moves in the summer I just don’t know? What I do know is players get managers sacked by poor individual performances and not putting shifts. We can’t sack the players so the manager will always carry the can.

I always try to be positive and seriously thought January was just going to be a blip and that tonight we would be back to winning ways but tonight I switched off when the 2nd Wednesday goal hit the net – something I never ever do, always thinking there is always hope. I sum up tonight: no hope and “hopeless” – Stanislas a spark but he got taken off!! Lost the plot I’m sad to say.- Join the conversation, click here.
