AFC Bournemouth football operations and recruitment manager John Yems would be interested in taking over as manager of Crawley Town, if they made an approach.

Yems joined the Cherries in October 2012 shortly after the return of management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall to Dean Court.

Yems is an experienced coach following roles at Fulham, Millwall and Crystal Palace. But he also holds a personal connection with Crawley Town and previously served as Crawley’s caretaker manager in 2007.

Crawley Town are without a manager following relegation from League One.

Dean Saunders took interim charge of Crawley in December following manager John Gregory’s heart surgery.

Both left the club last week along with the back room staff, which included former AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves.

Yems told Crawley News

‘At the moment I’m under contract at Bournemouth and very happy here, But if the Crawley job was available, and the club wanted to talk to me about it, then I would be open to that.

‘It would have to be done through the right channels but I’m still local, I live in Horsham, and I still have an interest in the club.

‘There have been a lot of rumours linking me to Crawley and it seems like I’ve spoken to everyone about it apart from the club.

‘I wouldn’t apply though, they would need to come to me with something concrete to make me consider leaving Bournemouth.’
