AFC Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman has called upon his team-mates to rediscover their intensity.

The Cherries have lost their opening two Premier League fixtures of the new 2017/18 campaign.

A 1-0 victory away to West Bromwich Albion, with the deadlock being broken by a set-piece was followed up by a poor showing at Dean Court against Watford.

The Cherries went on to lose the game 2-0, but despite home advantage, created very little in the way of goalscoring opportunities.

On Tuesday evening the Cherries travel to Championship side Birmingham City for the EFL Cup (formally League Cup).

Howe over the past few years has used the cup competitions to rotate his squad and he is expected to do the same this season.

Surman told afcb.co.uk

“It`s always good to have a game around the corner especially when you`ve lost at the weekend, Its going to be another tough game so we have to go into it and see if we can progress in the cup.

“We have to try and get that intensity back. We`ve always played at higher intensities and we`ve always created chances but the final product hasn`t quite been there yet.

“We need to find that sooner rather than later because the games don`t get much easier.”

Cup Rotation??

Just seen that EH is planning on putting out a ‘rotated’ side against Birmingham, and that new players can play their way into the team for Man City.

1. This is complete bullsh*t, when was the last time one of our cup squad actually played their way into the PL team? EH had already proved in this pre-season that he is willing to completely ignore form players and go with his favourites.

2. Why the f*ck would you not use this match as an opportunity to play your absolute best team, get a win, get some momentum going and go into the game vs Man City with slightly less terrible form? Or maybe try out a new formation with the first teamers that might help us not get completely bo*****ed by Man City?

Can’t wait to see the likes of Brad Smith and Tyrone Mings flounder to a victory and be rewarded with a place on the bench.
