Sean O’Driscoll hopes that Drew Surman and Stephen Foley are staying at Dean Court for an extra month while negotiations for longer stays continue.

Speaking to the Daily Echo O’Driscoll said…

‘The situation at the moment is that I think we’ve secured both boys for a further month, and, within that month, we’ll try to push negotiations to take them until the end of the season.’

Southampton have recalled almost all of their players who are out on loan except for Surman and with a new manager to be named shortly (George Burley is rumoured to be joining today or tomorrow) they are currently un-willing to allow Surman to leave on a full season long loan.

Over January, the deal will be discussed further and hopefully the South African born midfielder will join the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

Aston Villa have also agreed to a one month extension while negotiations continue about the young midfielder.

Stephen Foley’s Aston Villa contract ends at the end of the season and the Premiership club could be trying to push for a perminant move.
