Could Junior Stanislas be set to make his long-awaited return to match action this week?

The attacker hasn’t featured since suffering a serious knee injury in the Premier League fixture away to Watford back in March.

The Cherries face Eastleigh on Tuesday night in the Hampshire Senior Cup and whilst it might not be the bright lights of the top flight of English football, it does give Stanislas an opportunity to get some match action under his belt as he takes a step closer to his return for the first team.

The 28-year-old has played a key role for the Cherries since promotion to the Premier League, he has been directly involved in 24 goals, scoring 15 times in the top flight of English football and taken 9 assists from 61 Premier League appearances (52 starts).

Earlier this month, AFC Bournemouth rewarded him with a new and improved contract until the summer of 2021.

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo

Depending how he goes between now and then we may look to get him some match time.”

Favourite player during the Premier League days?

Junior Stanislas. Built for the Premier League. Seems to score in a lot of our memorable matches (0-3 Chelsea, 2-1 Man United, 3-3 Everton). The epitome of “hard work pays off”, given how bad he was in the Championship. Our most technically gifted player, IMO, and generally a joy to watch. Patiently waited for his chance without kicking up a fuss or being a d*** about it. Seems like an all-round nice guy too.
