AFC Bournemouth winger Junior Stanislas is targeting more goals and assists following his excellent start to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.

The winger has already scored three times this season and also claimed two assists.

On top of that his set pieces have also been causing the opposition some troubles, hitting the woodwork against both Watford and Hull City.

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has backed Stanislas to break into the England squad on his current form and whilst Stanislas wouldn’t completely agree that he is in the form of his life, he did confirm that it has been the most enjoyable part of his career to date.

Stanislas told the Daily Echo

“I don`t want to come out of the team. I`ll do everything I can to stay in it. I`m working hard and hopefully I`ll get more goals and assists to give the manager a bit of a problem.

“Perhaps (I am playing my best football). I`m certainly enjoying it the most. I`m playing at the level I want to play at so hopefully I can keep progressing.”

“I work on free-kicks after training, I stay out and practice, sometimes have a few competitions with the staff, which is enjoyable. Hopefully a few of them will start going in now rather than coming off the woodwork!

“The manager said I should take the same level of pride in an assist as I do a goal. If we`re winning games it doesn`t matter who`s scoring, as long as I`m contributing.”

Your Say…

Junior Stanislas is an enigma isn’t he? There were times last year where I thought he was the more speedy, athletic style winger we were looking for followed by games of total anonymity.

I was looking at him (against Everton) thinking why is he not one of the first names on the team sheet. I am ‘jury’s out’ on him normally and often think ‘surely we could do better’ but then he turns in certain performances and completely changes your mind. I wonder what the secret is to get him on it every week?
