Standard of Officials

It is part and parcel of the game, how did the man running round in black pass any refereeing course when he is obviously due an appointment at Specsavers?!

But in the last few seasons Cherries fans’ have begun to not even discuss the poor officials that have visited Dean Court. Instead when a half decent referee is in charge of the game we all become surprised!

In the past we have had Marcus Browning being sent off for having the ball kicked at him. Then only a few weeks later, poor Marcus was sent off for bleeding in the penalty box!

We’ve had penalties given against us for being belted with the ball from 2 yards but we went over a season before being given a penalty!

This season, we have had clear hand ball decisions not given, players being booked for celebrating and penalties given when the incident happens outside the box. Speaking about a decision given against the Cherries in the Scunthorpe game Neil Young told afcb.co.uk

I don’t know what the linesman has seen. I think Eddie was fouled, but either way, it was given and we’ve done well to come straight back into the game and take it to Scunthorpe.

‘The linesman gave a signal for a free kick. I don’t think he’d have flagged had it been in the box. The referee has decided differently and given the penalty.

It’s not even Cherries fans’ being paranoid about decisions against us. Every other game we are laughing at the officials for giving us decisions which are clearly wrong also!

So upthecherries.co.uk have set up a poll to see whether anyone agrees that the standard of refereeing in our division is poor.
