Young Lymington and New Milton full-back Pete Smith has spoken to the Bournemouth Daily Echo about his admiration for former Cherry Wade Elliott, who himself signed for The Cherries from Bashley for £5,000 in February 2000.

Smith, who has been invited back to the club for a further trial, said “There is no greater role model for me than Wade”.

“I was going to speak to a couple of people that know Wade and see if I could speak to him to see how he approached it all.”

The 20-year-old played for the Bournemouth reserves against Plymouth a few weeks ago after training with Sean O’Driscoll’s squad.
