AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and Torquay United manager Paul Buckle were both critical of referee Jarnail Singh following the Bank Holiday clash at Dean Court.

Reports suggest that it may well have been Mr Singh’s last match as a Football League official and he made sure he went out with a bang, handing out twelve yellow cards and awarding the Cherries a 95th minute penalty which decided the game.

Rendell had put the visitors ahead on the hour mark, before Liam Feeney equalised with just minutes to go and then Pitman stepped up to claim the points from the spot.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent

‘There was a lot of stopping and starting in the game.

‘We’d like to see it flow a bit more – really you just want the football to do the talking…’

Torquay United manager Paul Buckle added…

‘…There were some decisions I was unhappy with. The referee has to be 100% sure to give a penalty, and if he’s not 100% sure you can’t give it. Unfortunately he was influenced by a big crowd behind the goal and we came away with nothing….’
