AFCB Vital Match Zone

Positives and Negatives from Manchester City

– Yeah baby, we’re back! Finally an AFC Bournemouth Eddie Howe performance. We weren’t overawed and on the balance of chances should actually have won that match

– Junior Stanislas. If we stay up there’s one man that stood as a beacon when we were playing total dogshit and has carried the team back into form. Retain Premier League status after this and he’s got to be worth a statue. Or at least a replacement for the Fletch robot thing (if that’s still there)

– Good tactics which *everyone* bought into. Nobody was slacking off. Well done across the board

– Only one goal of damage to our goal difference. In the absence of any points, it’s the most pressure we could put back on Watford. And they still have to play Manchester City who might be annoyed now.

– Front three. Great play from all of them, a big pat on the back for Dominic Solanke. He may not have scored but that doesn’t always matter if you put in a strikers performance. Which he did.

– Callum Wilson. Suddenly realised he may have competition for his place and he looked his old self again. They were terrified of him! I actually don’t know who I’d start up front on Saturday now, and I mean that in a good way for probably the first time this season.

– If we go down but play like that at least we gave it a go and can try to start next season where this one leaves off. If we played like that against a Championship side it’d be 8-0. Birmingham away first up anyone?

— Negatives —

– I just feel like Aaron Ramsdale’s confidence is shot somehow. He looks a different player to the keeper he was earlier in the season. Good save near the end but somehow looks dodgy generally. If we’re going to pick him maybe get him an extra appointment with the sports psychologist or something before the weekend.

– Great performance but it didn’t quite yield the point we needed. Back in January, I’d have left that match pretty satisfied knowing the points would come. We aren’t in that territory anymore.

– We’ve lamented our lack of creativity this season. Well, we got that back in spades and it was the finishing that cost us this time.

– Jefferson Lerma is the other player like Rambo who still somehow looks off. I thought before he was trying to avoid the suspension but he’s well past that. It’s like watching a 90% Lerma. Still good but not as good as he has been for most of his time with us.

– Harry Wilson. To dive like that is awful. To dive like that in the era of VAR is bloody awful. To dive like that in the era of VAR when going into the penalty area with the ball and your team desperately needing goals is so stupid I’d make him walk home.

Your say…

Positives are that we were brilliant
The negatives are that it’s too late and we will be playing Championship football next season
Being realistic, if Watford draw at West Ham then we HAVE to win our last two games, as good as we’re playing I just can’t see it. – Join the conversation, click here.
