Brett Pitman is set to sign his first professional contract which will keep him at the club until 2008.

The young striker has reportedly gained interest from Chelsea.

Pitman has seen his fair share of first team action this season, making one start against Aldershot in the LDV and also coming off the bench on 10 occasions.

On his first team debut he came off the bench and scored in the penalty shoot out victory over Torquay and then on his first start he scored another penalty in the win against Aldershot.

Sean O’Driscoll spoke to afcb.co.uk about the signing…

‘Similar to Southampton with Theo Walcott, we are always looking to sign players with potential. We have a good record of developing talent at this club and we hope Brett can realise his here at Bournemouth.’

He added… ‘Brett is a sensible lad which is a credit to his parents, and I’m sure he will continue to have their support as he starts his professional career.

‘The PlayerShare scheme has enabled us to sign Brett. Its worth to the footballing side of the business has been immense and our thanks go to everyone who continues to support it.’
