Former Cherries target Jamie O’Hara scored the winner for Chesterfield in the 74th minute to extended the visitors unbeaten run to 14 matches.
The Cherries were able to conjour a host of chances, the best falling to striker Dani Rodgigues in the first half, but went behind to a Wayne Allison header on 25 miniutes.
However hope was restored when James Hayter converted from the spot, but for it to be cancelled out when O’Hara struck from the edge of the box 8 minutes later.
