O’Kane: We are gutted

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O’Kane felt that the Cherries lacked that little bit of luck in order to break down a well organised Birmingham City.

The former Premier League and League Cup winners, earned a trademark smash and grab victory thanks to two first half goals from Andrew Shinnie and Nikola Zigic whilst the away side had Darren Randolph in goal to thank for keeping them in the game with some great saves.

The Cherries dominated possession, but due in part to two defensive lapses with an error for Steve Cook for the first and Tommy Elphick for the second, the Cherries were hit with their fifth home defeat of the season.

O’Kane told BBC Radio Solent

‘That little bit of luck we needed just didn’t happen for us, but I think we can be happy with our performance, apart from the two goals, which we pretty much handed to them, I don’t think Lee Camp had a save to make.

‘Although we lost and it is hard to take, I think we need to take the positives and move on to next week.

‘It’s not easy to do that now, maybe on Monday or Tuesday it will be a little bit easier. But right now, we are gutted because we played well but didn`t come away with anything.

‘That’s football and I’m sure there will be weeks where we come away from games thinking that we were lucky…’
