Cherries manager Sean O’Driscoll spoke to BBC Radio Solent after yesturdays 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe United, having this to say…

‘I’m disappointed with a point because I thought we could have got three but I’m pleased as punch with our performance. We reacted really well to what we thought was a dubious penalty. I suppose all teams that give them away are a bit biased but we felt it was a bit innocuous.’

‘And then we played some fantastic football and it reminded me a bit of Blackpool away. We got a goal back and thought we might just go on and win it. We started the second half really well and had a couple of chances, hit the post, and the bar and then James O’Connor got a screamer.’

He went on to say… ‘Credit to Scunthorpe, they gambled, pushed men forward and it’s a difficult decision to make. You’re three on three at the back, you’re two-one up and need the points. In another situation, if we were midtable or chasing something then we could have gambled ourselves but credit to them. Brian Laws did a good job tactically and they got the equaliser. The game then petered out with both sides happy to take a point.’

Talking about James O’Connors stunning 25-yard strike O’Driscoll said ‘I’ve seen him clear the stand before but you have got to give them the responsibility to shoot’.

‘He nearly scored one just before where he came across the goal and hit the inside of the bar and the post so I think his confidence was up. It sat up nice for him, he got right behind it and if you don’t shoot, you don’t score.’
