AFC Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook believes it is now his time to hold down a regular place in the Cherries starting XI.
The young midfielder made his first Premier League start of the 2017/18 campaign against former Premier League champions Leicester City just prior to the international break.
Cook slotted in alongside Andrew Surman in a midfield four with Dan Gosling struggling for fitness and Harry Arter having Achilles issues.
The England Under 20’s World Cup winner instantly impressed and took the sponsors man of the match award for his performance in the 0-0 stalemate.
Cook has been away with England Under 21’s during the international window, but believes he is ready for a run in the Premier League.
Lewis Cook told the Daily Echo…
‘…I was patient, kept learning and improving off the pitch and I thought I did all right (against Leicester City), I enjoyed it.
“Playing in the Premier League is the best thing, I have always wanted to do that since I was little. It`s nice to have people wanting you to play and wanting to see you but it`s up to the gaffer.
“When he thinks I am ready and able to play, I am ready.”
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe also told the the Daily Echo…
‘…We made him aware when we signed him that there may be a period where he had to wait to get in the team and we were going to develop him behind the scenes but he took that situation really well…
‘…He is a hard worker, he is diligent, he wants to get to the very top and he displays the attitude which will help him get there…’
‘…He’s been very good. Even this season, he has not been a minute’s problem and I think the sky’s the limit for him.

Surman sitting and Arter and Cook allowed to go and press, tackle and win the ball sounds a plan for Spurs to me.
Arter whilst out of form, is at his best when he’s allowed to roam and go tackling. The 3 would also allow Cook more freedom to play risky passes if the opportunity presents itself – as lets face it Spurs won’t give us any easy openings. A moment of Cook quality to spot a gap through to King or Defoe is perhaps our best chance. – Join the conversation here.
