Leeds Programme Notes

upthecherries usually brings notes from our own match day magazine, usually in the form of our Supporters Trust section.

But after flicking through the programme for our trip to Leeds we noticed a few points of interest.

Anyone who thought that there may have been some form of an apology for the scenes in Bournemouth in 1990 would have been disappointed, although probably not very surprised.

Instead Leeds United Chairman Ken Bates’ opening comments in his programme notes read…

‘Today we entertain Bournemouth, who are in administration. Having voted in favour of having 15 points deducted, I wonder how they feel now that they are in the same situation. It is particularly ironic that Gerald Krasner (our former Chairman) played such a high profile role during our administration. He will now have to tackle all the same problems with the Inland Revenue refusing to support a CVA if the football league insist on a preferential payment in full to for ‘Football Creditors’. Still, I am sure (and certainly hope) that the matter will be resolved in a positive manner…’

The programme also included ‘The Real League One table, with Leeds sat in second place on 65 points, whilst Bournemouth and Luton remained at the bottom with their points deductions still in place.

A page was reserved for an on-line petition regarding their points deduction while squad member 15 was also reserved for the Football League, placed in bold with a minus symbol added.
