AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King insists he knew there would be more chances to get on the scoresheet following his penalty miss against West Ham United.

The Cherries actually failed to convert from the penalty spot on two occasions during the 3-2 victory, with King failing to hit the target and Benik Afobe having his penalty saved.

But King still went on to score a hat-trick and secure all three points for AFC Bournemouth, their first victory in the Premier League since the turn of the calendar year.

The Norwegian international has now scored 8 goals in his last 7 top flight appearances.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk after the game King said…

‘Leaving with three points and personally scoring three goals to help the club and the team to climb the table is magnificent, I think the boys were amazing today, there were patches when we didn’t play as well as the gaffer wanted us to but we grounded out, came back and managed to leave with the three points.’

‘Obviously, I was annoyed that I missed the penalty but it was early in the game and as a striker you need to keep your head cool and I knew there would be more chances in the game – luckily I got three more.

‘It was good charisma to come back and win the game after missing the two penalties.’

Your Say…

I think (Saturday’s) winner eclipses what previously was my favourite King goal, which was away at Newcastle. He hit the ball into the roof of the net with such venom, one of those explosive strikes that viewed from the other end of the ground are magnificent.

He can score all sorts of different types of goals, the technical and the rockets.
