AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was ‘thrilled’ with his side turning around another game to win late on.
This time around it was Premier League struggler’s West Brom, the visitors had initially taken the lead against the run of play when former Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez scored from close range.
With just thirteen minutes to play Jordon Ibe deceived former England goalkeeper Ben Foster from 25 yards to find the equaliser.
With a minute remaining, Junior Stanislas stepped up for a free kick, the winger had a sighter just a few yards closer minutes before which almost grazed the bar. This time around, with that little bit extra distance to dip the ball, he found the top corner with a stunning effort.
The victory lifts the Cherries to 10th in table and 36 points.
Howe told the Daily Echo…
‘I`m thrilled with us producing another comeback. Trust me, we don`t want to do it that way, but at this point of the season I think I`ll take any way if it means us getting three points.
‘West Brom made it tough, they are a very experienced side, they have very experienced Premier League players and an experienced manager, so it was hard to find a way to win against them.
‘It was important to get a result today off the back of the Tottenham and Leicester games. I thought we played very well in those games and today we didn`t.
‘But football has a strange way of working like that. We want to try and win every game and there`s only seven to go now.
How the hell did we turn that round?
Turgid first half.
We have to go a goal down to get motivated nowdays.
Hope they enjoy Dubai. With the number of players in gloves, we will be running out in duffle coats in a fortnight after the heat of the Middle East.
I called 36 points enough a few weeks back, and am sure that will still be the case…..Now the pressure is off a little, let’s have a great run in. – Join the conversation here.
